AMN (Avalanche-MTR-Nordic/Backcountry) Instructor Refresher

Instructor Continuing Education and Patroller Enhancement Seminar

This event is open to all Avalanche, MTR, and Nordic Instructors or Patrollers interested in becoming instructors and interested in NSP enhancement credits.  Instructors are required to attend the AMN once every three years for refresher credit (and maintain their Instructorship).  Like last year, there will be an “online learning” component for instructor credit on Moodle that is also required for credit.

The 2022 AMN is once again “in-person.”  Show up on Friday and set up camp. It is recommended to arrive during daylight hours because the campsite is a long walk from the parking lot!  There might be wagons to help transport your stuff.  Bikes are considered “nice to have.”  If you do arrive late, the gate may be locked. Look for instructions at the gate.

Saturday morning begins the all-day refresher with field exercises.

Included with the Free AMN Ticket is a Saturday morning breakfast and lunch.  A potluck dinner is traditionally organized at the campsite for Saturday evening.  Bring your favorite dish. There will be an open firepit. We are checking on grills.  You may want to bring a camp stove if you need it.  There will be no electricity at the camping site, so bring a 2000′ extension cord for those crock pots!

Note on food allergies and dietary restrictions:  We will do our best to provide a wide array of foods that meet most dietary restrictions. If your dietary restrictions are important to your well-being, you should bring food that you know you will be able to eat.  If you are a picky eater prone to complaining, you should bring your own food.

HYBRID ONLINE LESSONS

Like last year, all Instructors seeking refresher credit will need to log into Moodle School to complete a couple of online lessons.  All refresher attendees will be provided links and login info to the Moodle School.  Watch for email notifications…

OPTIONAL Sunday event will be:

Tyrolean Traverse over an Alligator Infested River of Lava!

Two teams will race across the Alligator Infested Lava Rivers.  The first team constructing a Tyrolean Traverse, a rope litter, then carrying an injured person to safety — wins!  Not only does the winning team get bragging rights, but they can secure their win by untying their rival’s system and watching them burn in hot lava!

Join us to find out how to create a Tyrolean Traverse, how you can create a litter out of rope (Lockerby Litter), and most importantly, how alligators survive in the river of lava!  This will be a morning course which ends around noon.  This Sunday event is considered an optional MTR E-course.

Select your ticket below

Please purchase a ticket.  If you want both Saturday and Sunday events, choose one, put it in your cart, then return here and add the other ticket to your cart, then complete the check out process.

After registering here on Patroller School, look for email instructions on how to complete the online portion of the course (watch your JUNK MAIL folder in case your email provider believes course information is unsolicited spam).  Instructions will also be forthcoming for navigating NSP’s **NEW** Course Credit Requisition system.  The new national LMS has changed everything!
