AMN (Avalanche-MTR-Nordic/Backcountry) Instructor Refresher
Instructor Continuing Education and Patroller Enhancement Seminar
This event is open to all Avalanche, MTR, and Nordic Instructors or Patrollers interested in becoming instructors and interested in NSP enhancement credits. Instructors are required to attend the AMN once every three years for refresher credit (and maintain their Instructorship). Like last year, there will be an “online learning” component for instructor credit on Moodle that is also required for credit.
The 2023 AMN is back once again. Show up on Friday and set up camp, which is 1/4 to 1/2 mile from the parking lot. Camping will be on location. More information and updates will be in the Moodle AMN course.
Saturday morning begins the all-day refresher with field exercises.
Included with the Free AMN Ticket is a Saturday morning breakfast and lunch. A potluck dinner is traditionally organized at the campsite for Saturday evening. Bring your favorite dish to share. We are checking on grills. You may want to bring a camp stove if you need it. There should be electricity near the dining, so bring a long extension cord for those crock pots!
Note on food allergies and dietary restrictions: We will do our best to provide a wide array of foods that meet most dietary restrictions. If your dietary restrictions are important to your well-being, you should bring food that you know you will be able to eat. If you are a picky eater prone to complaining, you should bring your own food.
HYBRID ONLINE LESSONS
Like last year, all Instructors seeking refresher credit will need to log into Moodle School to complete a couple of online lessons. All refresher attendees will be provided links and login info to the Moodle School. Watch for email notifications…
OPTIONAL Sunday event will be:
Two teams will race across the to find the injured hikers, and bring them back (safely!) to the starting area. Of course it won’t be THAT easy! Litters, webbing, and maybe some ropes will be involved. This is always a fun event. Equipment will be provided, and instructions will be given before the mahem starts! This will be a morning course which ends around noon. This Sunday event is considered an optional MTR E-course.
Select your ticket below
Please purchase a ticket. If you want both Saturday and Sunday events, choose one, put it in your cart, then return here and add the other ticket to your cart, then complete the check out process.
After registering here on Patroller School, look for email instructions on how to complete the online portion of the course (watch your JUNK MAIL folder in case your email provider believes course information is unsolicited spam). Instructions will also be forthcoming for navigating NSP’s **NEW** Course Credit Requisition system. The new national LMS has changed everything!
For additional information, feel free to contact any one of the Eastern Division Avalanche, MTR, or Nordic/Backcountry Supervisors by following this link to the CONTACT page…
For Sunday Attendees
In the “Details” box below when selecting tickets: Select Qty:1 for Saturday and Qty: 1 for Sundays ticket. (If you are not attending Sunday’s event, leave it at 0.) Then click the View Event Cart button. A new window will come up, click on the Proceed to Registration button. If you are attending both days, it will look like you are registering 2 attendees, but you are obviously not. Fill out the Attendee information, then just before you get to the Sunday event (“attendee 2”), click on the “Use Attendee #1’s info for ALL attendees” checkbox, and it will complete the ‘registration’ for Sunday. Scroll down and click the “Proceed to Finalize Registration” button. Eazy Peazy!
