Northern Vermont Region Women’s Program present this Skiing & Splitboarding Touring Event!  1PM-7:30PM

Join us for an energizing touring day at Bolton Valley Ski Resort.  You will skin-up to the Wilderness summit, while practicing GPS navigation skills.  After watching the sunset (weather permitting), we will ride down with headlamps.  Optional evening skiing as well.

Whether you’re a seasoned ski patroller or someone looking to refine your skills, this event offers a supportive environment to build confidence and enhance your skills.

What to Expect:

Uphill Touring (skinning) adventure: Gear up and skin-up to the summit of Wilderness. Expect moderate to intense physical exertion.  Work on your uphill travel skills. Coaching for different skill levels will ensure you get the most out of the day – new uphill travelers welcome!  No prior experience is necessary.

If you are a faster uphill traveler, you may lap the lift, or travel uphill more than once.  Don’t miss last chair!  We will regroup at the summit after last chair.

GPS Search exercise: with the use of a cell phone app and compass, you will be given GPS coordinates to look for during your climb, practice your GPS and waypoint finding skills.  An optional ZOOM call will be offered before the event to provide instructions on how to use CalTopo (app).

Networking Opportunities: Connect with other women in the ski patrol and skiing communities, share experiences, and build lasting relationships.

Who Should Attend:

This event is open to all women—cisgender, transgender, and nonbinary individuals who are comfortable in a space centered on women’s experiences.  Experience in bumps and glades is encouraged.

Logistics:

Rentals may be arranged ahead of time.  You may bring your own equipment (skis/splitboard & skins) in proper working condition.

Meeting time is after lunch (no lunch provided).  Snacks and refreshments at the summit after last chair.

*** DISCOUNT LODGING IS AVAILABLE *** (2-nights minimum) at Bolton Valley Resort.

Come join us for a day of learning, camaraderie, and fun!
