Each official NSP course must have an “Instructor of Record,” known as the IOR.\u00a0 The IOR takes the lead on planning and organizing all the details which make up the training event activities.\u00a0 Each Region has a different protocol for IOR’s, but this is a lesson about the importance of sanctioning the event to receive the benefits of NSP training insurance.\u00a0 <\/p>\n

It is the IOR’s job to plan the training event and organize the right number of “Assisting Instructors.”\u00a0 Assisting Instructors for an OET event is made up of three distinct instructor types:<\/p>\n

    \n
  1. Trainer-Evaluators (certified by Eastern Division OET as qualified Senior Training level instructors)<\/li>\n
  2. NSP Toboggan Instructors (certified by NSP)<\/li>\n
  3. PSIA-AASI Level III instructors officially brought in to teach senior skiing components<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
    A fourth type of NSP Instructor, known as an “Instructor Trainer of Record” (ITOR), is also required for course “Quality Assurance” purposes.\u00a0 The Regional OET Advisor assigns this team member and performs an oversight role, so don’t be surprised if the IT originally selected gets switched by the OET Regional Advisor (RA).\u00a0 The RA has the supervisory role over all OET courses running in the Region and can re-assign IT oversight.<\/div>\n

    NSP Policies and Procedures<\/b><\/a><\/p>\n

    How the IT CLOSES a Completed Course<\/h3>\n

    It is the IOR’s responsibility to review the list of ENROLLED students.\u00a0 If any were missed or walked on at the last minute, add them now.\u00a0 If enrolled students fail to attend, it is best practice to DELETE them from the enrollment page.\u00a0 Deleting students who missed the course simplifies the course closing procedure for the ITOR’s.\u00a0 As an option, the IOR may set the ATTENDED value for students as “no Show” or “Canceled.”<\/p>\n

    \"\"Once the review is completed, the IOR must communicate with the IT of Record to let them know that the course should be closed. To close the course, the IT of Record is required to log into the Center for Learning and locate the course in their INSTRUCTOR CENTER (use the tile pictured above to navigate to the Instructor Center). <\/p>\n

    In the list of courses assigned to IT, locate the exact course that is being closed. Click the MANAGE button to access the course management page. Course management is split up among several tabs. Select the ENROLLMENTS Tab to see the students being managed by the IOR (refer to the picture at the bottom for reference).<\/p>\n

    Closing the Course by Marking Students as Attended<\/h3>\n

    \"\"The ITOR should review the correspondence from the IOR who has managed the list of enrolled students.\u00a0 Scan down the list (don’t forget that extensive courses may be split up over several pages) and mark the CHECKBOX adjacent to each student who successfully attended the course.\u00a0 Ensure that any students marked as ON SHOW or CANCELLED are not checked!<\/p>\n

    Once the selected students are checked off, look for the MULTI-UPDATE button in the lower left area of the page. Click the button to bring up the updater box. Select ATTENDED (remember, only the ITOR has the authority to make this change) and document that you were directed by the IOR to officially close the course.<\/p>\n

    If there are multiple pages of students, repeat the process on all the pages.\u00a0 Ensure that you followed the IOR’s list of attendees by double-checking that only the intended students were marked as ATTENDED.<\/p>\n

    Before leaving the Enrollments TAB, click the SAVE button in the upper right corner.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
